She completed her orthodontic residency and a Master’s degree at Loma Linda University, practiced for several years in Colorado, and took over the San Ramon practice founded by Dr. Sandy Bigman. She treats children, teenagers and adults.
Meet Dr. Jenée Kaplan
Hi! I'm Dr. Jenée Kaplan, and I couldn't be more excited to join the Bigman Orthodontics family and become part of the San Ramon community. It’s wonderful to be back home in California. After finishing my training at Loma Linda, I purchased a practice in Colorado Springs, where I met my husband, who is also an orthodontist. Together, we combined our individual practices into a thriving, multi-location private practice with a wonderful, loyal patient base. While there was so much to love about Colorado, the pull of being closer to family eventually brought us back to California — my father is also a retired orthodontist, so orthodontics has always been a big part of our lives.
I earned my Bachelor of Science in Biology and Biomedical Science from La Sierra University in Riverside, California, before continuing on to Loma Linda University, where I received my Doctorate of Dental Science. From there, I was accepted into Loma Linda’s prestigious Orthodontic Residency Program, where I completed my Master’s degree. Since entering the profession, I’ve made it a priority to stay at the forefront of every major advancement in orthodontics — from the latest aligner technology and clear self-ligating brackets to orthognathic surgery for bite correction and sleep apnea — so that I can offer my patients the most advanced care available and help them achieve truly great results. I’m a member of the American Association of Orthodontics, the American Dental Association, the California Dental Association, and the Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontics.
My husband and I are very active in our community with our two boys, ages 12 and 7, who love sports including swimming, soccer, water polo, and mountain biking. Our boys have quickly made new friends here, and we’re looking forward to growing new roots and building lasting relationships with this community and with each of you.
My approach to orthodontic care has always been centered on trust — with my patients, their parents, and the referring dentists and specialists I work alongside. I listen closely to each patient’s goals, take time to walk them through their treatment options, and tailor care to fit their individual lifestyle, so that the experience feels personal from start to finish.
Together, Dr. Bigman and I are dedicated to ensuring a smooth transition while maintaining the warm, family-oriented environment that has always been the foundation of this office. How she approaches treatment
- Treatment is planned from measurements rather than from how the teeth look. Arch length, tooth width, jaw position and the path of an unerupted tooth are things you measure, and a plan built on a photograph is a guess with a confident tone.
- You are told when a treatment is the wrong answer for your case. The treatment pages on this site each carry a section on who the treatment is not right for, which is unusual in this field and is deliberate.
- You are told when nothing needs doing yet. Most children seen for a first check at seven are reviewed a year later with no treatment at all, and that is the correct outcome rather than a missed opportunity.
- Where a problem belongs to someone else — an airway assessment, a speech-language pathologist, a physical therapist, an oral surgeon — you get a referral rather than an appliance.
A practice changing hands, not changing character
Dr. Sandy Bigman founded this practice in San Ramon and cared for families here for more than three decades. He and Dr. Kaplan are working through the transition together. Patients already in treatment continue without interruption, in the same office, with the same records and the same team.
